Dr Sanjeev Balakrishnan

Qualifications: MBBS, M.Med (Family Medicine), FRACGP

Dr Sanjeev Balakrishnan is an experienced family physician with a Master of Medicine in Family Medicine from the National University of Singapore. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has more than two decades of clinical experience.

His main clinical interest is metabolic health, particularly helping patients improve or reverse obesity, type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome through evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle strategies. He has a particular interest in low carbohydrate, healthy fat and carnivore dietary approaches, which he also follows personally.

He also offers second opinion consultations on cholesterol and cardiovascular risk, with careful interpretation of lipid results and discussion of appropriate management options. All care is tailored to each patient’s individual health needs, circumstances and goals.

Dr Sanjeev is actively involved in metabolic medicine, regularly attending national and international conferences and serving on the Scientific Committee of the Australasian Metabolic Health Society.

Due to a high existing patient load, he is currently accepting new patients (16 and above years old) only for focused consultations in metabolic health, men’s health and cholesterol management, particularly for patients who are committed to actively addressing these areas of their health.
